This tea has such a delicate aroma and fragrance. It made the whole house smell wonderful. It’s a fantastic way to use what would otherwise get thrown away. I am really disappointed I didn’t discover this idea before I processed my summer apple crop! All that wasted goodness… From now on, I will definitely save my peels when making things with peeled apples.
This works with fresh or dried apple peels. To dry for later, just spread the peels out until thoroughly air dried or use a food dehydrator.
Ingredients (per 8oz. of water)
Peel of 1 apple (~2 tablespoons dried)
1/2 cinnamon stick
pinch of lemon or orange zest
Put all ingredients into a pot and heat. Simmer for 10-15 minutes.
Strain out the pieces. Sweeten to taste and serve with a lemon wedge.
